Squash Ontario COVID-19 updates.

Please play at a level to suit your squash ability.
All Captains & club Pros should match players in the appropriate division in line with the players abilities. Players playing at a division level lower than their squash playing ability results in one sided matches, and is of no benefit to either player. Furthermore, this does not reflect the true spirit of competitive squash in the T&D.

To all Clubs & Captains ...... the DUNLOP double yellow dot ball is the official ball of the T&D Men's Squash League & must be used in all league matches.

PLAYOFF RULES

After the regular season is completed, the top teams in each League qualify for Divisional Playoffs. The playoff format for a given division depends on the number of leagues in each division and the rules for determining the format are dealt with separately.

The Divisional Playoff Rules must be read with the General Rules. Where there is a conflict, the Playoff Rules apply.

1. TO DETERMINE STANDINGS WITHIN A LEAGUE
Standings will be determined as follows prior to any consideration for byes.
1. Points total.
2. Number of matches won.
3. Record between tied teams.
4. Highest number of away matches won.
5. Highest number of away points won.
6. A playoff between tied teams.

2. TO DETERMINE HOME COURT & SEEDING POSITION FOR PLAYOFFS
1. Highest team standing in respective league.
2. Points total, after adding points for byes (see Playoff Rule 3. below).
3. Highest number of matches won.
4. Highest number of away matches won.
5. Highest number of away points won.
6. A coin toss.

3. AWARDING POINTS FOR BYES
For playoff purposes, it is necessary to balance league performance to equitably account for byes. Typically at the end of the regular season, having determined the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th place teams in each league which has a bye situation (normally 2 matches), 8, 7, 6 & 5 points respectively will be added to the team's points totals. Teams will also have 2 wins for 1st & 2nd & 1 win for 3rd & 4th added.

If a team drops out of a league part way through the season, all points scored in competition with that team will be expunged, & points for a bye awarded if necessary.

Failure to comply with this rule will result in a default at the position played. (See Rule 16 in General Rules)

8. PLAYER PLAYING ORDER
The player playing order for playoff matches will be determined by the league statistician. The numerical value of the position played each week will be added together, divided by the number of matches played to give an average. Team line-up will be in order from lowest average to highest average. Averages will be determined from each team's submitted match results. If two players have exactly the same average, the captain may choose which of the two players play the higher position. Once the two players have played in a chosen order, any subsequent playoff matches must be played in the same order. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a default at the position played.
